Sun Pictures which is the production company of this political drama movie confirmed the news on their official Twitter page. 27 Feb 2018 Update: Sources says that the actor Vijay Sethupathy plays the villain role in upcoming Karthik Subbaraj-Rajinikanth movie. But there is no official announcement regarding that. Stay tuned for more updates. 

27 Feb 2018 Update: When Karthik Subbaraj saying about the Rajinikanth movie, he said that there will be no such things like immensity in the movie but it will be in the story and screenplay of this film. He also added that the movie will satisfy the Superstar Rajinikanth fans for sure. 

Sun Pictures, the biggest production house who tweeted this big announcement that the young director Karthik Subbaraj directing the #thalaivar165 movie. 

We know that the promising director Karthik Subbaraj impressed the superstar Rajinikanth by the gangster movie Jigarthanda, where Thalaivar called the team and wish them in person. However, there was a big competition between some young directors like Mersal fame Atlee, Aruvi fame Arunprabhu and Iraivi Karthik Subbaraj who were narrated their story to superstar for his upcoming political subject movie. Finally, Pizza fame Karthik Subbaraj got that opportunity to direct the biggest star of Kollywood. The other details of the movie cast and crew will be out soon.  

All we have a guess about the music director of the movie, that the Santosh Narayanan who has worked with the director in his all three movies and with the actor in Kabali and Kaala. But most of the young directors have a dream to work with Oscar hero A.R.Rahman. Let's wait for the official confirmation whether its Santosh Narayanan or A.R.Rahman.
